Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday night after a two-vehicle crash ended with an SUV hitting a utility pole and a brick business sign before flipping over.

The crash occurred at about 10:41 p.m. Tuesday along Black Horse Pike (Route 168) near Almonesson Road in Gloucester Township.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Toyota Venza was traveling southbound when it crossed into the northbound lane and clipped the back of a Honda Accord. The impact sent the Accord spinning into the roadway.

The Toyota continued through the intersection, left the road and struck a guide wire, landscaping and a brick business sign with an electronic display. The vehicle then overturned, coming to rest upside down in a nearby business parking lot.

Firefighters from the Blenheim Fire Department extricated two occupants from the Toyota. Both were taken to a local medical center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit’s Serious Crash Investigation Team. Police have not released the identities of those involved.
