A morning commute collision sent a vehicle off the highway and into a creek along Route 17 South in Ramsey early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at approximately 5:19 a.m. following reports of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding firefighters and rescue personnel discovered the vehicle completely off the roadway, resting inside a local creek bed.
Initial reports indicated that the driver might be trapped inside the wreckage. However, by the time first responders made access to the creek side, the driver had already been successfully removed from the vehicle.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the driver's identity or the extent of any injuries sustained.
Extracting the car from the water required specialized equipment. A large heavy-duty wrecker was dispatched to the scene to hoist the vehicle out of the creek bed and back onto the highway.
Recovery operation and debris cleanup forced partial lane closures, wrapping up after approximately 90 minutes.
The roadway was officially cleared and fully reopened to morning traffic by 7:00 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
