Police arrested two women who they say held a man down and used his cellphone's facial recognition to transfer money.
Detectives say the male victim met with the two women in a hotel room after midnight on Oct. 9, where they used facial recognition to unlock his phone and transfer money via Apple Pay in exchange for sexual acts.
The victim did not authorize the payment, which totaled $1,250.
Veda Engel, 23, of Cape May, faces robbery, conspiracy and prostitution charges.
Amanda Crafts, 35, of Wildwood, is also charged with robbery and conspiracy.
Crafts is listed on the staff directory for Middle Township Middle School, where she teaches computers.
Superintendent of Middle Township Public Schools Stephanie DeRose announced a staff member was arrested outside of Cape May County.
"Please know the charges do not involve any alleged threat, inappropriate behavior, or misconduct occurring within our schools or involving our students," DeRose wrote in a letter to families and staff.
News 12 reached out to the district for further comment but had not heard back as of Saturday night.
Engel and Crafts are both in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
