Woman injured after being struck by NJ Transit train at Newark Penn Station
An adult woman suffered nonfatal injuries after she was struck by an NJ Transit train while trespassing on the tracks at Newark Penn Station on Saturday evening, officials said.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. when North Jersey Coast Line train 7265, which departed New York Penn Station at 6:07 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Long Branch at 7:46 p.m., struck the woman.
The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to NJ Transit.
There were no injuries reported among the approximately 650 passengers and crew members aboard the train.
Train service was temporarily suspended following the incident but has since resumed.
