Some travelers are changing their vacation plans ahead of the spring break season due to tensions across the globe.
Local travel agent Susan Pastuzyn has had clients reach out about moving their travel plans from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to other destinations after cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho," was killed last week.
Her recommendation right now is to stay informed, get travel insurance and protect yourself.
"I buy a policy for every trip because I want to make sure I'm covered, because you never know what's going to happen," said Pastuzyn, proprietor of Susan's Travel in Westfield.
Pastuzyn also recommends registering with the State Department's Smart Traveler enrollment program to let the government know you are leaving the country.
