If you regularly drive on Route 7 in northern New Jersey, you may want to consider a different route this Wednesday.
Drivers can expect temporary stoppages as the NJ Department of Transportation conducts testing on the Belleville Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., causing 15-minute stoppages in both directions.
The lift bridge testing is part of the federally funded National Bridge Inspection Standards biennial program, which requires regular inspections of all bridges in the state.
The Belleville Bridge spans the Passaic River, connecting Belleville in Essex County with Kearny in Hudson County and North Arlington in Bergen County. Attenuator trucks, also known as crash trucks, will block the roadways while testing is underway.
