An 18-year-old Hightstown man has been arrested and charged in connection with two reported assaults in the borough.

Christian Arevalo was identified as a suspect after detectives reviewed surveillance footage and received information from several anonymous tips following the public release of two surveillance videos on Sept. 22.

The investigation began after a 34-year-old woman reported that she was walking near Park Way and Rogers Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2026, when she was approached from behind and physically and sexually assaulted.

Arevalo faces multiple charges related to the Sept. 11 incidents, including aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and criminal restraint.

Investigators also connected Arevalo to an earlier reported incident on Aug. 12, 2026. In that case, an adult Hightstown woman reported that she was approached by an unknown male on North Main Street at approximately 9:40 p.m. and touched inappropriately. The suspect fled after the woman yelled.

Arevalo faces additional charges stemming from the August incident, including criminal restraint, aggravated criminal sexual contact, criminal sexual contact, harassment by unlawful touching and criminal trespassing.

Arevalo was arrested and charged on Wednesday at the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
