A sinkhole has closed the right westbound lane of Route 33 in Neptune Township, officials said.

The sinkhole was reported just west of Wayside Road, according to the Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management. The right lane remains closed while crews assess the situation.

Officials are urging motorists to use caution and expect delays if traveling through the area. The New Jersey Department of Transportation and New Jersey American Water are on scene, and no additional information was immediately available.
