Two Bergen County communities are coming together to support an Oradell volunteer firefighter and his family following the sudden death of his wife.
Mike Jaimes lost his wife, Jennifer Jaimes (Moretti), on Sept. 30, just days before her 38th birthday. She was 37.
The couple had two young sons, ages 1 and 4.
River Edge and Oradell, neighboring communities that sometimes compete against each other, joined forces Sunday for a charity game benefiting the Jaimes family.
The game raised thousands of dollars. The Oak house, a local restaurant, also donated a portion of its sales to the family.
A GoFundMe campaign established in Jennifer’s memory has raised approximately $150,000 to help Mike and their children navigate life without her.
"Jenn was so many things to so many people — a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend," the fundraiser’s organizers wrote. "She was kind, loyal, incredibly funny, and the type of person who always showed up for the people she loved."
The fundraiser was established to help ease the family’s financial burdens as they adjust to their loss.
"Jenn spent her life showing up for the people she loved. Now it’s our turn to show up for them," the organizers wrote.
