Police officer saves driver from burning vehicle
An Egg Harbor Township police officer rescued a civilian from a burning vehicle Saturday, authorities said.
Police said K-9 Officer William Burns was driving through Pleasantville when he saw an automobile engulfed in flames in a marsh.
While fighting the fire with an extinguisher, Officer Burns heard yelling from inside the vehicle, according to officials.
With the help of nearby civilians, he pulled the driver from the back of the vehicle to safety. Credited by the department with saving the driver's life, police said Burns advised that he was “just doing (his) job.”
