A Paterson man has been arrested and charged in connection with a November 2025 shooting that left a woman wounded, authorities said.
The Passaic County Prosecutor and Paterson Police Department announced that 38-year-old Naason Wimbush was arrested March 2 for the Nov. 15, 2025 shooting near Piercy Street and Presidential Boulevard in Paterson.
At about 11 a.m. that day, officers responded to a report of a shooting and found a 36-year-old Paterson woman suffering from nonfatal gunshot wounds, officials said. She was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment and police identified a potential crime scene in the area.
Investigators later determined Wimbush was responsible for the shooting. He was arrested without incident by the Wayne Police Department in the area of Route 46 East and Park Lane in Wayne, police said.
Wimbush faces charges of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, and criminal mischief.
Prosecutors filed a motion for pretrial detention on March 3. A detention hearing is scheduled for March 6 in Superior Court.
