Passaic honors hometown Miss World 2026 winner with Key to the City
City of Passaic native and Miss World 2026 winner Joheirry Mola Domínguez was presented a Key to the City on Saturday.
Mayor Hector C. Lora presented Mola with a Key to the City, a proclamation and recognition as a Distinguished Ambassador of Passaic during a ceremony at City Hall. The city billed the event as a public welcome reception honoring the reigning Miss World.
Residents gathered outside and inside City Hall to welcome Mola as she arrived. Attendees waved Dominican flags while musicians played during her arrival.
Lora said representatives from St. Mary's General Hospital, where Mola was born, attended the celebration and presented her with a special recognition. The mayor also said maternity doctors associated with her birth were present for the event.
The ceremony drew local officials, community leaders and representatives of the Dominican Republic Consulate in New Jersey, according to the mayor.
According to the Miss World organization, Mola represented the Dominican Republic and was crowned Sept. 5 during the 73rd Miss World competition in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
The organization says she is a teacher, journalist and founder of Voices of Tomorrow, a program that promotes English-language education for children and young people in underserved communities.
