A New York man is facing charges after police say he was racing another car on a busy road and caused a crash in Paramus.

The driver, 20-year-old Aiden Perez, was speeding on Route 17 when he lost control changing lanes and then hit a Jeep, police say.

The crash happened in late April.

The driver of the Jeep was seriously injured.

Perez is now charged with aggravated assault and assault by auto.
