A police sergeant is accused of telling a fellow officer to lie during an investigation in Garfield, authorities say.

The sergeant, 30-year-old Anthony Pizzi, is charged with witness tampering.

He has yet to face a judge.

It's unclear what internal affairs was looking into, authorities say.
