An early morning crash involving a tractor-trailer snarled traffic in East Brunswick just before the Monday morning commute.
According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the crash occurred at about 4:47 a.m. A tractor-trailer overturned on the southbound exit ramp from the New Jersey Turnpike to Route 18.
The crash, which happened at Exit 9 on the Turnpike, prompted first responders to initially shut down all lanes leading to the Route 18 ramp. Police, NJDOT and other emergency crews responded to the scene.
New Jersey State Police said a preliminary investigation determined that a Peterbilt tractor-trailer was entering the turnpike at the interchange 9 toll plaza, traveling from State Highway 18 south, "when the driver lost directional control of the vehicle on the entrance ramp, and overturned."
Police said no injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
