Police in Monroe Township recently took a particularly slow-moving suspect into custody after a brief pursuit.

That suspect, a loose tortoise, was found wandering near Church and Academy streets on Monday.

The tortoise was safely recovered by officers and taken to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, where it was later successfully reunited with its owner.

The sulcata tortoise named Mikey, aka Michael Angelo, is now back home safe.
