Jenkinson's Boardwalk has officially opened its newest roller coaster, Patriot's Run, in Point Pleasant Beach.
The family coaster, built to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, replaces the longtime Flitzer roller coaster, paying tribute to the beloved ride while giving it a patriotic red, white and blue makeover. The attraction is the largest ride investment in Jenkinson's Boardwalk history.
Standing nearly 40 feet tall, Patriot's Run features more than 1,100 feet of track and reaches speeds of about 25 mph. Riders are able to see views of the beach and Atlantic Ocean before navigating a series of drops, twists and turns.
"This ride has been years in the making. We are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience especially for families with young kids and this ride delivers that," said Alex Taylor, marketing manager at Jenkinson's Boardwalk.
Among the first riders were Georgio and Valentina Cocca of Howell, who said the new coaster lived up to expectations.
"It's amazing. Yeah, I love it. It was so fun! Brings me flashbacks to Flitzer when I was on it. Great ride, I love it," they said.
Patriot's Run features three trains, each with two cars that can accommodate up to eight riders per car. Custom station artwork highlights iconic American landmarks as part of the coaster's America 250 theme.
Patriot's Run is part of a multiyear expansion plan at Jenkinson's Boardwalk. The boardwalk also plans to open a new indoor attraction in summer 2027.
