A fire caused extensive damage to a South Plainfield home early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. in a ranch-style home on Crown Avenue. The fire is believed to have started in the attached two-car garage.
Officials were still spraying down hot spots more than two hours after the blaze erupted. First responders were also using heavy equipment to help remove what appears to be a burned car from the garage/driveway area. Fire officials have not yet said if anyone was injured but it appears that everyone made it out of the home safely. There is no word on exactly who was home at this time. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
