A driver was rescued moments before their vehicle became fully submerged in a body of water in Manchester Township on Sunday.

Rescue workers responded to the east side of the community and confirmed that a vehicle was submerged in a lake. According to Whiting Fire Company Station 33, which provided mutual aid during the incident, a Manchester Township police officer removed the occupant from the vehicle “before complete submersion.”

Public safety divers then entered the water to evaluate and search the vehicle. Crews confirmed there were no additional occupants.

“The vehicle was fully submerged, with all four wheels resting on the ground,” the fire company said in a statement.

First responders used a winch to pull the vehicle from the water. Manchester EMS also responded to provide medical care to the driver and monitor the divers.

There is no word on the driver’s condition or how the vehicle ended up in the water. The incident remains under investigation.
