A 56-year-old Toms River woman was killed and seven other people were injured after a vehicle crashed into an outdoor dining area and the building of Meg’s Grill in Lavallette Saturday morning.

The crash happened at around 11:12 a.m. at the restaurant, located at 1401 Grand Central Ave.

According to the Lavallette Police Department, the operator of a 2014 Buick Encore was attempting to park in front of the restaurant when the vehicle apparently accelerated instead of braking.

The Buick then traveled into the restaurant’s outdoor dining area and into the building.

Seven restaurant patrons were injured and transported to the hospital with various injuries.

A 56-year-old woman from Toms River was fatally injured in the crash.

The 93-year-old driver, a woman from Lavallette, suffered minor injuries.
