A West Milford police sergeant has been charged with two counts of simple assault for an incident that occurred at a deli last month.
Thomas Connnors, 39, stands accused of assaulting two people while off-duty at Jessie's Country Kettle around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 24.
He was arrested Tuesday in Totowa following an investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Public Integrity Unit.
Officials have yet to release specific details about the events leading to the incident.
They say the sentencing exposure for his charge, a disorderly person’s offense, carries a maximum jail term of six months with potential fines, probation and other court-ordered conditions.
