Traffic concerns are growing in Bayonne as cruise ships dock at the local port.
The Oasis of the Seas arrived Friday morning, bringing passengers off the ship and taking on new travelers for its next trip.
Residents say traffic on cruise days can become difficult, especially on the peninsula near the terminal.
Drivers heading to board ships can get stuck, along with people who live on nearby streets.
Photos and drone video show long lines of cars backing up in the area.
Some residents have taken to social media to voice frustrations about the traffic.
People who live in nearby apartment complexes say they sometimes cannot leave due to congestion.
Truck traffic tied to nearby facilities and additional traffic from a local Costco can add to the backups.
“The Port Authority is aware of recent traffic congestion around the Cape Liberty Cruise Port. The agency is working with partners in the area to identify mitigation strategies and reduce impacts on the surrounding community,” a Port Authority spokesperson said.
