Salem County man allegedly pepper sprays 69-year-old outside Delaware Wawa
A Salem County man has been charged in connection with a pepper spray assault at a Newark, Delaware convenience store, Delaware State Police said Friday.
Troopers arrested Aldo Funari II, 52, of Carneys Point Township, New Jersey, following an incident at a Wawa Thursday afternoon.
Police said troopers responded at about 12:30 p.m. to a report of an assault. A preliminary investigation found that two drivers became involved in an argument after one accused the other of crashing into his vehicle. During the dispute, Funari allegedly pepper-sprayed the other driver in the eyes, police said.
The victim, a 69-year-old Newark, Delaware man, was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and released, authorities said.
Funari was taken into custody and charged with felony assault, and later released on a $2,500 unsecured bond, police said.
