A new high‑speed attraction is giving thrill‑seekers a reason to buckle up as indoor kart racing reaches a new level
at K1 Speed in Totowa.
The facility features the go-kart operator's first dual elevated indoor kart tracks on the East Coast, with more than 2,000 feet of racing surface spread across two multi‑level courses designed for different skill levels.
Drivers take on twists, turns and elevation changes as they move through the tracks.
"Most people come in here a little anxious," said Danny Gomez, manager at K1 Speed. "And then we guide them through the entire process and get them out on the track, and when they get off, they're like, 'Oh my God, I love this.'"
The venue offers two different tracks.
Gomez said one track focuses more on adult racers with tighter and more technical turns, while the other gives kids and beginners a chance to build confidence and learn the basics of racing.
Before racing begins, drivers receive a safety briefing that explains kart operations, flag colors and track rules, including the strict no‑bumping policy.
Track marshals monitor each race and can control speed to ensure a safe experience, Gomez said.
"It's designed for everyone," said News 12's Amanda Eustice. "Whether you've never raced before or you're ready to go full throttle."
K1 Speed also offers arcade games, private party rooms, elevated viewing platforms and a Paddock Lounge where visitors can relax after racing.
The facility hosts league racing for juniors, teens and adults, allowing regular racers to build skills and compete.
Gomez said many first‑time drivers leave eager to come back.
"Give yourself the opportunity to experience the thrill of racing," he said. "Once you do it, you're going to want to come back and do it again."
