Students will move to remote instruction for the rest of the week after a burst pipe caused significant damage to several classrooms at Red Bank Regional High School.

Superintendent Louis B. Moore said in a statement that the pipe burst on Sunday and led to cleanup efforts requiring industrial drying equipment, air movers and dehumidifiers. He said the noise levels and restricted access created safety concerns and limited the effectiveness of remediation work if students and staff were present.

Students will take part in remote learning for the remainder of the week, including a previously scheduled early dismissal on Friday. The athletics schedule will continue as planned with minor adjustments, and Moore said coaches would communicate updates to students.

Moore did not say what caused the burst pipe. He said the district will provide an update on Friday and notify families if more days of remote instruction are needed, adding that he expects the current district calendar to remain unchanged.
