A record seven New Jersey ZIP codes rank among the 100 most expensive in the country, with six reaching record-high median home sale prices, according to a new report from real estate data company PropertyShark.
Alpine, in Bergen County, topped New Jersey's list and ranked 15th nationally, with a median sale price of $4.38 million.
Stone Harbor, in Cape May County, followed at No. 41 nationally, with a median sale price of $3.13 million, exceeding $3 million for the first time.
The seven New Jersey ZIP codes on the list are:
  • Alpine (07620): No. 15 — $4.38 million
  • Stone Harbor (08247): No. 41 — $3.13 million
  • Avalon (08202): No. 55 — $2.8 million
  • Deal (07723): No. 64 — $2.65 million
  • Short Hills (07078): No. 76 — $2.45 million
  • Rumson (07760): No. 84 — $2.41 million
  • Cape May Point (08212): No. 89 — $2.35 million
New Jersey has typically placed two ZIP codes on the annual list, but its presence has grown since the pandemic, driven in part by rising home prices in Cape May County, according to PropertyShark.
Deal was the only New Jersey location on the list to see its median sale price decline, falling nearly $1 million from a year earlier.
Nationally, Atherton, California, ranked first with a median sale price of $10.73 million.
The rankings are based on residential sales completed from Jan. 1 through Sept. 30, 2026, rather than asking prices. PropertyShark included ZIP codes with at least five qualifying sales. The analysis excluded states where actual home sale prices are not publicly available.
