New information has been released regarding a wild fight in Hackensack involving a machete.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says that both the suspect and the victim are now facing charges.
Officials say 18-year-old Joaquin Morris, Jr. is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 16-year-old victim is also facing charges related to the incident.
The prosecutor says Hackensack police officers responded Tuesday afternoon to Banta Place and State Street for reports of a fight. It is there that they found the 16-year-old suffering from stab wounds.
Officials say Morris and the victim got into an altercation. They say the 16-year-old pulled out a machete and slashed at Morris. They say that Morris, in turn, used a knife and stabbed the teen.
The 16-year-old is being treated at the hospital and will be headed to juvenile detention once he is released.
