A standoff in Trenton stretched for hours Sunday morning before ending peacefully, with a woman safely released and a 47-year-old man taken into custody.

Police say Anthony Parker barricaded himself inside a second-floor bedroom with a woman and allegedly threatened her with a knife and refused to let her leave.

Officers quickly declared a hostage situation and called in the Mercer County Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team to assist. Negotiators worked for several hours to de-escalate the situation, and Parker eventually surrendered. The woman was evaluated by medical personnel and was not physically injured.

Parker was turned over to Trenton police and placed under arrest.
