Drivers using the Lincoln Tunnel may want to leave extra time for their commute as construction begins on the long-awaited replacement of the Midtown Bus Terminal.
Port Authority officials say work starting Thursday will require changes to the routes buses use to access terminal ramps, affecting traffic approaching the tunnel from New Jersey.
On the New York side, traffic impacts are also expected on 39th and 40th streets, along with 9th and 10th avenues.
The new Midtown Bus Terminal is expected to improve reliability and reduce travel times for commuters once completed. The $11 billion project is scheduled for completion in 2035.
