Essex County teen charged in 2023 armed home invasion
A 19-year-old Essex County man has been charged in connection with a 2023 home invasion and robbery in Tenafly, authorities said.
Officials said charges were filed against the man, who was 17 at the time, after a years-long investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Tenafly Police Department.
Police said officers responded about 7:30 p.m. April 30, 2023 to a home on Mahan Street, where a masked intruder broke in, attacked the victim with a knife and stole the victim’s vehicle parked outside. The victim suffered a head contusion and a laceration to the nose, authorities said.
Investigators identified the suspect through trace evidence analysis and other investigative work, authorities said.
On Feb. 3, 2026, while the suspect was already jailed on unrelated charges, he was served with juvenile delinquency charges including robbery, burglary, theft, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
