Dozens of dead geese have been found in a South Brunswick pond amid an avian flu outbreak in New Jersey.
News 12 received a report about several dead geese on the bank of a small pond off of Melrich Road on Friday morning. 
[instagram] https://www.instagram.com/p/DVR5c9QibcI/ [/instagram] The man who called in to report the geese tells News 12 the situation's been getting worse over the last few weeks. "Yesterday I became really concerned because a good estimate, maybe 30, that I could actually see, were dead," said delivery driver Rodney Robinson. "I needed to call somebody to take care of the situation because you have other wildlife in the pond, and I don't know if the birds are sick or anything like that."
RELATED: Bird flu likely to blame for dead and dying geese, NJDEP says While dozens of the geese were lifeless, others looked to be just fine.  The cause of the deaths is not immediately clear. The Township of South Brunswick said the Middlesex County Health Department is involved in the matter. The health department said they've sent out information to all their local municipalities about how to properly dispose of dead animals and what precautions to take. Meanwhile, there is an active outbreak of avian flu in the Garden State.  "If they have bird flu...It's a health concern when you see something that catastrophic like that," Robinson said.
