Thousands of New Jerseyans rely on NJ Transit trains to get around, but that is not an option today as the engineers have gone on strike.
NJ Transit is asking customers to work from home to limit the NJ Transit system, buses and light rail to essential purposes only.
This contingency plan includes adding very limited capacity to existing New York commuter bus routes in close proximity to rail stations and contracting with private carriers to operate bus service from key regional park & ride locations during weekday peak periods.
NJ Transit will enhance peak period service on existing New York bus routes in close proximity to rail stations and NJ Transit train tickets and passes will be cross-honored on NJ Transit buses and light rail lines - not on Amtrak, Path, Patco, SEPTA, Ferries or Private bus companies.
