Two men broke into Bentley Diamonds shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, smashing display cases in the Route 35 store.

Exclusive surveillance video shows thieves smashing jewelry display cases inside the Spring Lake Heights jewelry store early Thursday morning.

Two men can be seen on camera breaking display cases inside Bentley Diamonds shortly after 2 a.m. One suspect’s masked face is visible in the surveillance footage.

A security alert call woke up owner Jonyar Bagheri, who quickly pulled up the cameras on his phone.

“It’s very unsettling, you feel violated,” said Jonyar Bagheri, owner of Bentley Diamonds. “This is our life. You spend more time here than you do at home for families.”

The suspects got away.

Spring Lake Heights Police Chief Ed Gunnell says they’re already chasing numerous leads.

“It breaks our hearts that somebody came and burglarized Bentley Diamond. They’re always good to the community, good to the police department,” said Chief Gunnell.

Bentley Diamond owners say they have received a couple of concerned phone calls wondering if any personalized jewelry was stolen. No customer’s personal items were affected.

“Our clientele is amazing they’ve all reached out. There's a lot of support in the community from all these towns,” said Rick Abreu, a sales manager at Bentley Diamond.

On June 25th, thieves smashed their way into a jewelry store on Norwood Avenue in Ocean Township. Those suspects are still on the run.

Despite the damage and on-edge nerves at Bentley Diamond, the store opened for business hours after the heist.

“Rebuild the cases and can’t let them take us down. We’ve been here forever and will continue to be here,” said Bagheri.

Bentley Diamonds has been a fixture in the Wall Township and Spring Lake community for nearly 50 years.
